Responsibilities

  • Perform power system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash)
  • Develop protection schemes for DER systems, including utility-interactive systems and recloser/relay coordination
  • Evaluate and design grounding systems, including effective grounding strategies (e.g., grounding transformers, NGRs)
  • Perform or review underground conductor thermal/ampacity studies for MV and LV systems
  • Review and QA/QC electrical plan sets for completeness, accuracy, and constructability
  • Review medium voltage equipment submittals (switchgear, transformers, relays, cable systems, etc.)
  • Support interconnection design and coordination with utilities (e.g., PG&E, SCE, SDG&E)
  • Contribute to SCADA / DAS concepts, including communications architecture (Ethernet, RS-485, fiber, basic device integration)
  • Support overhead/pole line interconnection design, including coordination with and review of subcontracted structural engineering
  • Collaborate with internal designers and external partners to deliver permit-ready and construction-ready documents
  • Support projects during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting as needed
  • Work directly with senior engineers and the Engineer of Record on active projects from day one
  • Work across multiple projects and phases simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
